LAWRENCE, Kansas – Local Retailer, Rally House, has partnered with the patriotic charity, Folds of Honor and KU Athletics to launch a line of officially licensed University of Kansas tee shirts. Folds was started by KU graduate and veteran, Lt. Col. Dan Rooney to assist the children of deceased and disabled veterans with scholarships to a higher-education school of their choice.
“As a KU graduate, I am honored and humbled to change lives by partnering with Rally House. Folds of Honor has recipients at the University of Kansas and this noble program will ensure they continue to pursue their dreams as Jayhawks,” said Rooney.
KU and Rally House have designed the apparel with KU inspired graphics that include the Folds’ signature triangle flag. With each item sold, Rally House will donate a portion of each sale to the scholarship fund. Those funds will go directly to the spouses and children of servicemen and women killed or disabled while serving our country, “Kansas Athletics is proud to support Folds of Honor. We are greatly appreciative of our veterans and the need to support their living legacies,” said Jeff Long, KU Director of Athletics.
KU currently has 12 current students that are Folds of Honor recipients. They are hopeful that with Rally House sales, they can raise more money than before to give to prospective students. “Folds of Honor is a great charity and I’m happy to support the children of the true American heroes, our veterans,” said Bill Self, Kansas Jayhawks basketball coach.
